  • One day you may need us ?

    • A recently bereaved doctor’s wife and mother of young children approached the RMF for financial assistance, the Caseworker advised her on the Welfare State Benefits she would be eligible to apply for. She was very grateful to receive guidance from the Caseworker, which helped to alleviate the family’s financial pressure. She was also grateful to the RMF for the one-off grant provided to tide her over financially, until her applications for her welfare benefits were processed.
    • A doctor’s wife who is a full-time carer for her very sick husband often feels alone and isolated. Regular calls from the RMF Caseworker help to reassure her that there are people who care about her and her family. An annuity to the doctor takes away some of the financial pressures of daily living.
    • The RMF helped to provide towards educational costs where a sudden change of circumstances put a family into financial crisis and they were unable to carry on paying school fees at a critical time in the child’s education.
    • A doctor who was tragically killed, left a daughter who was in her final A level year at school. The RMF helped to pay for tuition fees enabling her to complete her education. The family was very appreciative of the support from the RMF, which helped them through this difficult time.

    From those we helped …

    • “We are extremely grateful to the RMF for the award granted towards our son’s school fees. It has made all the difference that he was able to remain at a school that meets his special needs. He continues to be happy and is making very good progress”
    • “My wife and I would like to thank your Board of Trustees most sincerely for the generous financial support. It is quite wonderful to have the fridge fuller and to have the extra finance to spend on fruit and vegetables for our children. There often isn’t enough money to buy these necessary items so your gift is very much appreciated.”
    • “Many thanks to the RMF for your kindness and generosity. The monthly pension is gratefully received and gives me peace of mind knowing that I am not alone in my advanced years. I also very much appreciate the regular calls from your Caseworker as it makes me feel that there are people out there that care about my wellbeing.”
    • “The family was thrilled to be visited by your friendly and caring Caseworker. Since our social worker of many years has retired, your special visits show that somebody still cares about us.”

    • The RMF assisted with the cost of Leisure Centre Membership Fees to help a severely disabled young doctor with rehabilitation. In turn, meeting people at the centre helped the doctor from feeling so isolated.
    • An eligible applicant had been refused Disability Living Allowance on the basis of income. The Caseworker explained that DLA was not means-tested and suggested they reapply. This information gave the applicant the confidence to challenge the decision and reapply for their welfare benefit entitlement.
    • During a regular telephone call to an elderly vulnerable beneficiary to check how things were going, the Caseworker learned that she was routinely falling over. With her permission, the Caseworker alerted Social Services who were able to provide additional assistance.
    • The RMF helped pay the cost of childcare for a severely disabled child, allowing short periods of respite for the parent.

    From those we helped …

    • ‘Thank you so much for your donation. By paying our council tax arrears, the threat of prosecution has been lifted, and by paying our telephone bill arrears the threat of having our service disconnected has been avoided. We are so grateful for your help.’
    • ‘I wanted to let you know that I collected the wheelchair on Friday and it is fantastic. I did not appreciate just how big a difference it would make. I sit much more upright and my shoulders don’t hunch over. It’s also much lighter to push, and to get in and out of the car – thank you.’
    • ‘Our family want to thank you yet again for the generous gift of supermarket vouchers, which has allowed us to enjoy, among other things, some family picnics over the school summer holidays.’
    • ‘Thank you for the very kind offer of assistance with our education expenses we are extremely grateful, as this allows our son to remain at his school where his needs are met and he is happy and making progress.’
